The content is proprietary. How it may be used and cited.
What a subscription allows, how to cite a record, and the limits we place on what gets published.
Content produced by Sentry View — territorial assessments, operational layers, confidence classifications, regional context and first-hand observation — is proprietary material. A subscription grants personal, non-transferable access to the platform; it is not a licence to redistribute, republish or resell.
These terms apply to content published from 31 August 2026 onwards. Content published earlier under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 keeps the rights that licence granted over copies already obtained: a licence of that kind is irrevocable and the change is not applied retroactively.
What a subscription allows
Access is for the internal use of the person or organisation that pays for it:
- Consult, analyse and use the information to make your own operational decisions.
- Cite a specific record in an internal report or a publication, stating the source, the date of access and the declared confidence level.
- Share your own conclusions derived from that analysis.
What it does not allow:
- Redistributing, republishing or reselling the content, in whole or in part.
- Systematic extraction of the dataset, by automated or manual means.
- Sharing access credentials or using one individual account for several people.
- Building a derivative product or service from the platform's content.
Third-party content
- Headlines and news belong to the outlets that published them. Sentry View always links to the original source and never reproduces the full text.
- Third-party photographic material keeps the rights of whoever produced it.
- Base cartography: tiles come from CARTO, built on OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors, under ODbL), and the satellite view from Esri. Each provider has its own terms and its attribution is shown on the map.
How to cite
For a report or publication:

When citing a specific report or territorial assessment, always include the date of access and the confidence level. A record marked "unverified" and cited without that qualifier is no longer the thing it was.
Validity is part of the data
Territorial assessments expire on purpose. When citing one, carry its verification date and its expiry with it: a zone assessed three weeks ago does not describe today's situation, and presenting it without that timestamp turns it into misleading information even if it was correct when recorded.
What we do not publish, and why
- Exact coordinates for trial accounts. The position is degraded on the server before it leaves the database.
- Locations of humanitarian organisations, their teams or their warehouses.
- Anything that could identify a person who provides information.
- Territorial control attributed to groups or individuals, restricted to moderation accounts.
This does not depend on the terms of use: it is a decision about what is responsible to publish in a context of armed violence. The full criteria are in the methodology.
Responsible use
With active access, some uses run against the purpose of the project and are expressly excluded:
- Using the information to locate, single out or endanger people or groups.
- Presenting "unverified" records as confirmed facts.
- Reusing records without their date, so that expired information looks current.
- Implying that Sentry View endorses a conclusion, a product or an organisation.
Bulk access to the data
There is no bulk download and no public API. If your organisation needs the data in volume for an analysis, write to gerencia@sentryuav.app stating the purpose; it is assessed case by case under a specific agreement.
